Monroe Sangat met in 1st Meeting to propose and discuss the vision of having Sikh Center in Monroe NJ.
There was a general consensus among every one present that the vision is to build a Sikh temple (Gurudwara) with khalsa school and to have a provision to build athletic fields, adult day care center and sikh heritage library in the premises.
The first two things to do right now is to
- Register the name of the non-profit organization
- Finalize the lot in Monroe
For item no. 1 above, there were few suggested names for non-profit
- Sikh Cultural Society
- Sikh Heritage Center
- Sikh Cultural Society of US East Coast
- Sikh Heritage Society of US East Coast
- Tristate Sikh Cultural Society
- Tristate Sikh Heritage Center
For land acquisition Satvinder Singh volunteered to assist in checking the zonal development of few identified lots in Monroe. His cell number is 732 991 4742. Onkar Singh/Dhanbir Singh will contact him to go over identified lots in Monroe.
It was also discussed to have a high level project charter for this project with mission/vision/rough timelines/roles and responsibilities etc.
